Folk is handy when you're out in the world: finding things near you, getting you
there, checking the weather, and even reminding you of things based on where you
are.

## nearby & directions

ask folk what's around you or how to get somewhere:

> what's a good coffee shop near me?

> find a pharmacy that's open right now nearby

> how far is the ferry building from my place, and how long to walk?

Folk knows where "near me" is from your [shared location](/docs/live-location),
and can give you directions, distances, and travel times.

## weather

> what's the weather looking like this weekend?

> do i need an umbrella tomorrow?

Folk pulls a real forecast, including any alerts.

  detailed forecasts are US-only for now. Folk will still give you the gist
  elsewhere, just with less local detail.

## let folk know where you are

Folk is sharpest when it knows where you are. the best way is to share your
**[live location](/docs/live-location)** in Telegram. share once and Folk keeps
up as you move, so "near me" just works (and it can remind you of things at the
right place and check in when it's useful).

on iMessage, paste an **Apple Maps link** when you want Folk to know about a
specific spot, or just tell it your neighborhood.
