about folk
the folk behind folk
we're a tiny, slightly unhinged team building the ai friend we always wanted, one that lives in your texts, remembers you, and actually cares.

we want ai to feel like a friend, not a tool
most ai makes you log in, learn an app, and engineer prompts. that's not how friendship works. so we built folk to meet you where you already are: your imessage, your group chats, your people.
honestly, we're a bunch of college kids and gen z who grew up online. so much of today's ai makes us feel more alone, not less, and that's the part we care about most. so we made folk multiplayer: your folk teams up with your friends' folk, makes the plans, and actually gets everyone in the same room. we call it crew.
under the hood, folk runs on nia, the memory and context engine we built so your ai genuinely remembers you. but you never see the machinery. you just get a friend who shows up, keeps your people close, and quietly handles the boring stuff.
we sweat the tiny things (how it texts, when it stays quiet, the way it remembers your mom's birthday) because personal ai should actually feel personal. that's the whole point, and it's why we're building this for everyone, not just the technical few.

the gen z we're building for
less doomscrolling, more of this. the feeling we want folk to give people back.

life at folk
shipping too hard, launching at our hackathon, and wearing way too much of our own merch.

shipped too much. he's fine, we promise.
