folk

reminders & nudges

reminders, recurring check-ins, follow-ups that chase people for you, web monitors that watch for changes, and how to control how often folk pings you.

folk doesn't just answer when you text it — it can reach out at the right moment, too. reminders, recurring routines, follow-ups, and watchers all land as a normal message in your chat.

reminders & routines

ask for a one-off reminder or a recurring routine in plain language:

remind me to call mom on sunday

every morning at 7, text me my schedule and the weather

every sunday night, send me a plan for the week ahead

folk sets these up and they just fire on schedule — even while you're offline. you can see and manage everything from your dashboard under automations.

your morning check-in

every folk comes with a gentle morning check-in out of the box. it lands in your home channel — set that with /sethome in whichever chat you want your daily messages to arrive.

follow-ups that chase people for you

this one's a quiet superpower. folk can keep an eye on a conversation and nudge you if someone goes quiet:

follow up with sara if she hasn't replied by friday

ping me about the invoice if accounting doesn't get back to me by 5

when the deadline hits, folk checks the thread and, if there's still no reply, drafts a nudge for you to approve — it never messages the other person on its own.

watch the web for me

folk can keep an eye on a page or a topic and message you when something changes:

watch this product page and tell me if the price drops below $80

let me know if there are any new openings at this company

ping me if my flight time changes

you give it a plain-language condition, pick how often to check (anywhere from hourly to weekly), and folk only messages you when the condition is actually met. the alert lands right back in the same chat.

watchers run on folk's cloud computer around the clock, so they keep going whether or not your phone is on. (they're set up in one-on-one chats, not group chats.)

controlling the pings

folk is careful not to be annoying — it has a daily budget for proactive messages. but you're always in charge. send /nudges to see and control it:

/nudges

see today's activity and whether nudges are on.

/nudges off

pause all proactive messages until you turn them back on.

/nudges on

turn proactive messages back on.

/nudges snooze 24h

quiet things for a set time (e.g. 1h, 24h, 2d).

your scheduled reminders and routines still run — /nudges controls the unprompted extras, not the things you explicitly asked folk to send.

there's also a quieter "haven't heard from you in a while" check-in. you can switch that off in your dashboard settings if it's not your thing.
